Prof. Valentina Garibotto, MD
Prof. Valentina Garibotto is senior physician and associate professor at Geneva University Hospital and Geneva University, with clinical and research experience in imaging molecular targets and a specific interest in neurodegenerative diseases and clinical oncology. Dr. Garibotto obtained her doctorate in medicine from the Genoa University Hospital in 2003, her specialization in nuclear medicine at the San Raffaele Hospital and Bicocca University in Milan in 2007 and the title of Privat Docent from the Geneva University in 2014. She has authored more than 140 peer reviewed articles (H index: 28, Scopus 22.06.2020) in the fields of clinical neuroimaging and nuclear medicine. Her research group works on molecular imaging of neurodegenerative diseases, with a specific interest in causative and protecting factors and on novel therapeutic approaches (https://www.unige.ch/medecine/radio/en/groupes-de-recherche/984garibotto/). These research projects are mainly supported by the Swiss National Research foundation, the Velux Stiftung, the Schmidheiny and Aetas foundation. She’s teaching molecular imaging at the pregraduate and postgraduate level in national and international courses.
Prof. Thomas Zilli, MD
Prof. Thomas Zilli is a faculty at Geneva University Hospital, Switzerland, where is working as a senior clinician and vice-chief in the Division of Radiation Oncology. He graduated in Medicine and Surgery in 2004 at University of Udine (Italy) and specialized in Radiation Oncology at the Geneva University Hospital, Switzerland. He is responsible for the treatment of prostate and genitourinary tumors at Geneva University Hospitals and actively involved since its creation in 2014 in the organization of the Geneva Prostate Cancer center. Main research includes mainly the treatment of prostate cancer patients using modern high-precision radiotherapy techniques including IMRT, VMAT and SBRT as well as the use of molecular imaging in the radiotherapy planning and the treatment of gastrointestinal tumors (https://www.unige.ch/medecine/radio/en/research-groups/1014zilli/group-members/thomas-zilli/). These research projects are mainly supported by the Swiss National Research foundation, the Movember, the Dinu Lipatti and the Velux Stiftung foundations. He already published 110+ original peer-reviewed articles and he serves as reviewer for different peer-review journals. He is actively involved in the GFRU (Groupe Francophone de Radiothérapie Urologique) association, active member of the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC), and board member of the Swiss Group for Clinical Cancer Research (SAKK).
Dr Massimo Valerio, MD, PhD
Doctor Massimo Valerio qualified in medicine and completed a MD degree at the University of Bari, Italy, in 2006. He terminated his residency in 2012 at the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois in Lausanne, Switzerland. After obtaining a Certificate of Advanced Studies in clinical research in 2011 from the University of Lausanne, he joined the University College London group as research associate, and achieved a PhD in this university in 2016. He is staff member at the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois in Lausanne since 2014, and Privat-Docent at the University of Lausanne since 2016. His research mainly focuses on biomarkers and health technology assessment of minimally invasive technologies in diagnosis, risk stratification and treatment of patients with prostate cancer. His research has been supported by national and international competitive funding, and has been reported in over 100 peer-reviewed publications. Dr Valerio is a member of the EAU Young Academic Urologists – Prostate Cancer working group, of the EORTC – genitourinary malignancies group and of the ERAS – urology group.
